Time is a profound and complex topic, often associated with value and labor. But my focus on time is somewhere else. Through my jewelry, I aimed to offer a way to measure time by weaving. The name of this project is “Killing Time”, I am a hunter who hunts a prey called time, and I wear the time it takes to create my work as a trophy or medal.
Weaving Time – 95 hours, copper, 2023.
Killing Time – 11: 46:19.06, silver, copper, 2023. 86 x 70 x 16 mm
When I was weaving the square one, I set some strict rules for myself; no music, no water, no bathroom breaks, no food, and if I do it stops the timer.
Killing Time – 28 Days, silver, copper, 2023. 113 x 70 x 33 mm
This one is completely different, for example, I weave for two hours every day after school, and while I’m weaving I listen to music, drink tea, pet the cats, and don’t time it, so I include the sleeping time as well.
The square piece is representing the working time, the other one represents my daily live time.
